Internationally Accredited Hospitals in Quezon City

Four of the hospitals are internationally accredited and certified, and pioneering in different medical areas.

  • ST. LUKE'S MEDICAL CENTER - Joint Commission International (JCI) and the International ISO 9001 Certification for the Institute of Radiology and known for its aggressive acquisition of top-of-the-line latest equipment. It claims to be better equipped than 90% of hospitals in the United States. It has the first 256-slice CT scanner in the country that allows doctors to capture incredibly detailed three-dimensional images of a living patient's internal organs, bones and blood vessels at a very fast acquisition rate.
  • NATIONAL KIDNEY INSTITUTE - first government hospital to be ISO 9001:2000 certified by Technical Universal Verifiable (TUV) Product Service in 2002. It was able to acquire its re-certification in 2009 and has been upgraded to 9001:2008. It was the pioneer in Stem Cell Transplantation.
  • WORLD CITI MEDICAL CENTER - Integrated Management System (IMS) Certificates or ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001:2007 and the first hospital and school to be accredited with Certification International in the Philippines. Upgrading Government Hospitals Aside from having hospitals

qchwpic1Aside from having hospitals with international accreditations, cost-effective procedures, and modernized approach, treatment centers and facilities were added to the expanding medical developments in Quezon City. Three government-owned hospitals situated in the city: the Philippine Heart Center (PHC), Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) and the Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC) were given a total of Php 742 million allocated budget by the national government to upgrade their medical services and facilities.

The Heart Center is undertaking a major upgrade of its facilities and equipment to improve the quality of health care services for patients with heart ailments. There are three new operating rooms being built, including an operating room dedicated to pediatric heart surgery and by the middle of this year, it shall have a specialized HYBRID OPERATING ROOM, which shall be the first and only in the Philippines and third in Asia. The HYBRID OR is a highly-advanced and complex working environment for large teams of surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and technicians, allowing all the members of the medical team to work efficiently and seamlessly together to increase the success of the surgery.

Pioneers in Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell-based therapy is emerging as a new concept for the treatment of various diseases. The National Kidney and Transplant Institute in East Avenue, Quezon City.

ch pioneered stem cell transplantation in the country in 1990 (and has been performing peripheral blood stem cell transplant since 2001), has upgraded and modernized its facilities with equipment at par with those found in the United States: Molecular and Cellular Therapeutics lab, which has already been working on Dendritic Cell Vaccine therapy for cancers (prostate, kidney, breast, lung, liver, colon, gastric, pancreas, cervix, uterine, ovary, myeloma, and lymphoma) together with its sister hospital, the Lung Center of the Philippines.

 

NKTI's Stem Cell Transplantation Program has been performing blood and bone marrow transplantation procedures for years and had improved survival for a number of our patients who suffer from diseases like leukemia and lymphomas.

Stem cell transplant for eyes

qchwpic4In 2006, St. Luke's Medical Center made history when the hospital's International Eye Institute successfully performed a conjuctival stem cell transplant on a 52-year old indigent male—harvesting healthy stem cells from his remaining good eye and then transplanted to his injured eye, replacing the missing cells. The hospital's Stem Cell Research and Biotechnology Division is doing a lot of work on stem cell-based therapy and is working closely with cardiology, vascular medicine, cancer, neurology, ophthalmology and dermatology departments.

The hospital has also established collaborations with the Singapore's Eye Research Institute, Korea'sHanyang University, United States' University of Miami, and Germany's TICEBA (ahighly innovative German life science company, working in the field of stem-cell research and regenerative medicine). Dimamay also shared that the hospital also completed its equipment and requirements for growing human cells.
