Aside from having hospitals with international accreditations, cost-effective procedures, and modernized approach, treatment centers and facilities were added to the expanding medical developments in Quezon City. Three government-owned hospitals situated in the city: the Philippine Heart Center (PHC), Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) and the Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC) were given a total of Php 742 million allocated budget by the national government to upgrade their medical services and facilities.
The Heart Center is undertaking a major upgrade of its facilities and equipment to improve the quality of health care services for patients with heart ailments. There are three new operating rooms being built, including an operating room dedicated to pediatric heart surgery and by the middle of this year, it shall have a specialized HYBRID OPERATING ROOM, which shall be the first and only in the Philippines and third in Asia. The HYBRID OR is a highly-advanced and complex working environment for large teams of surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and technicians, allowing all the members of the medical team to work efficiently and seamlessly together to increase the success of the surgery.

Stem cell transplant for eyes
In 2006, St. Luke's Medical Center made history when the hospital's International Eye Institute successfully performed a conjuctival stem cell transplant on a 52-year old indigent male—harvesting healthy stem cells from his remaining good eye and then transplanted to his injured eye, replacing the missing cells. The hospital's Stem Cell Research and Biotechnology Division is doing a lot of work on stem cell-based therapy and is working closely with cardiology, vascular medicine, cancer, neurology, ophthalmology and dermatology departments.
The hospital has also established collaborations with the Singapore's Eye Research Institute, Korea'sHanyang University, United States' University of Miami, and Germany's TICEBA (ahighly innovative German life science company, working in the field of stem-cell research and regenerative medicine).
